Huh.
I should be angry about what heâs suggesting happenedâI know this, however, I canât help but appreciate in the slightest of ways that he did something I myself would have done. Not to me of course, but â¦
I raise my wrist and glance at the time again, then reach into my pocket for my cell phone.
I tap the screen to life, send a message off into the universe, then turn my location on.
âDo you think that makes you more of a man than me now?â I ask him thoughtfully as I slide the phone back into my pocket. âI mean, it was bound to happen eventually so I hope you donât think this makes you some kind of a badass.â
The grin on his face falters slightly.
So easily baited, I think trying my best not to roll my eyes.
Do I feel like less of a man because of what he did to me?
Yes and no.
Yes because thatâs not something I should have missed. Letâs be honest; if someone is going to go through the trouble of fucking me, they should have at least let me find out if itâs something I might be into once in a while. But, then again, Iâm not into dick so I guess he did me a favor in a way.
No because the only other person that knows this happened is standing in this building with me, and Iâll be good and goddamned if Iâll let him flap his fucking gums about this to anyone. If he thinks heâs handy with a thread and needle, he hasnât seen anything yet.
I smile slightly when the phone vibrates in my pocket.
âAnyway, about that ice?â I ask him as I walk into the kitchen. Gray follows closely behind me and Iâm wondering if he wants another go, when he slams the freezer door shut, almost catching my hand inside. âGod, youâre such a drama queen,â I grumble, glancing at him. âBut thatâs fine. Iâm sure this headache will go away eventually.â
âWhat is wrong with you?â he shouts inches from my face. I cringe slightly and take an involuntary step backwards wondering what the issue is now. âGet out of my house!â
I chuckle and shrug. âAnd here I thought you said you were gonna kill me. Granted, it wouldnât have happened, but I would have liked to get a little dirty again before I headed back to the highway, you know?
Gray takes a step toward me, and I take another back. This has nothing to do with fear and everything to do with teaching him a lesson. You canât take things that donât belong to youâat least not without asking first.
Itâs almost a slow dance that weâre locked in now.
For every step he makes forward, I take two steps back.
Over and over until Iâm in the hallway and heâs standing just inside his home.
âSo ⦠I guess this means we arenât friends then?â I ask thoughtfully.
âOver my dead body,â he barks.
I grin.
He arches an eyebrow.
I shrug, sigh over dramatically, and before Gray realizes whatâs happening, I move much faster than he expects.
